Cattle supplied both milk and meat to families like the Breckons who first farmed this area from 1870's - 1950's.
Henry Breckon was a prosperous fruit farmer known for his strawberries and apples. He also kept 10 head of cattle and few head of sheep.
Believe it or not, ice cream began to be a dietary staple around the turn of the last century!
