Finger Lakes ReUse is a 501(c)3 reuse organization that operates two storefronts in Tompkins County, retailing used clothing, furniture, books, and household goods. In addition to being a fantastic reuse store, Finger Lakes ReUse is a local hub for deconstructed and reusable building materials. Having first launched a deconstruction effort in 2009, Finger Lakes ReUse is a local leader in the building deconstruction processes.
For larger-scale deconstruction to be successful in Ithaca, it is crucial to have local organizations capable of performing deconstructions and reselling materials; Finger Lakes ReUse has expertise in both. As more buildings are deconstructed locally, Finger Lakes ReUse will likely play a key role in giving reclaimed materials new life.
Finger Lakes ReUse is a founding partner of the Circularity, Reuse, and Zero Waste Development (CR0WD) network and was central to the Catherine Commons Deconstruction Project and Community Salvage Effort.
