Standley Lake has about 1,100 acres of water and towards the center, it can reach up to 96 feet in depth. Within the third largest reservoir in the Denver Metro area resides 10 different species of fish. These fish include rainbow trout, large and smallmouth bass, sunfish, wipers, catfish, carp and more. Standley Lake holds the state record for largest walleye caught in Colorado. In 1997, Scott Regan reeled in the 34 inch walleye, weighing 18 pounds and 3 ounces, and he remains a record holder today. Since the walleye was caught, the regulations at Standley Lake have changed. Fishermen are no longer permitted to fish sunset to sunrise and wading is prohibited.
Areas permanently closed to fishing include the dam, all paddle launch ramps and docks with the exception of the ADA accessible floating fishing pier.
