The first embassy of the second president president of the US John Adams was established at the Fluwelen Burgwal. John Adams had arrived in 1780 for political and financial support for the American Revolutionary War. In 1782 John Adams was appointed as diplomat and there was a friendship- and trade agreement between the US and The Netherlands signed.
