FIURolando · 33. Forests Are Gone To Anywhere
Forests are home to anywhere from 50-90% of land-living biodiversity. Forests exist undisturbed on their own for many years, not needing pruning, weeding, or any other laborious task to manage them. A food forest takes that concept of self-sufficiency and incorporates the production of food. The FIU Food Forest consists of several fruit trees, shrubs, ground covers, and many other fruiting plants. Due to Hurricane Irma, several of the trees were lost. Since that time, faculty and students have been working on a new design to bring back the Food Forest.
