Information

Fort Bedford was the hub of activity in the 1700s. It was the starting point of General Forbes' expedition to Fort Duquesne, and was a stopping point along Forbes Road. To learn more about Fort Bedford, continue to the next stop of the tour.

The Fort Bedford-Raystown plaque was dedicated in 1930. It reads: "Depot of supplies assembling place of an army of nearly eight thousand men and the starting point of General John Forbes’ Expedition for the possession of Fort Duquesne. The road leads westward to the Forks."
