Former home of Louis B. Russell, who at the time of his death in 1974 was the world’s longest surviving heart transplant patient as well as Indiana’s first heart transplant recipient. To honor the former teacher, Indianapolis Public Schools named IPS 48 after him, located at 34th and Central Avenue.
