While enjoying the rock path around Le Fer Lake located north of the Avenue, when you arrive to the western point of the lake, peer across the street at a now wooded area that was the former Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Train Station. The tracks remain hidden deep into the wooded lot and the station is now a memory. The train station was essential to The Woods as it was the form of transportation for the Sisters of Providence as they began their mission journeys in the states and across the world, received certain building materials that may have had global influence, and more. Given that the Train Station was located across from the main entrance of The Woods access to this mode of transportation would have been ideal and advocated for by Saint Mother Theodore Guerin.
