Fulton Savings Bank started in 1871 when a group of civic bank leaders organized the bank to receive deposits from tradesman, clerks, mechanics, laborers, miners, servants, and others. The Bank was hit hard during the Civil War when 37% of the nations bank deposits were withdrawn, Fulton Savings bank stayed alive through this war. It also stayed alive during the Great Depression when many other banks failed in the United States. The bank has been able to stay alive because of the support the community has given. Today it has grown into a very important bank supporting many citizens of Fulton. It celebrated its 150th year of operation in 2021.
