445 Henry Mall
Built in 1961
The Genetics Building housed medical genetics and animal genetics until 1994. Since 1989, WISCIENCE (the Wisconsin Institute for Science Education and Community Engagement) has been housed here. WISCIENCE collaborates with educators to create model programs, events, resources, forums and more that help broaden participation in science and make science education and mentoring more effective at UW–Madison, in K-12 schools and beyond. WISCIENCE provides a home for effective solutions that have no other means of support, so its constellation of programming continually evolves in response to community-identified needs.
Also located in this building is the Nutrient and Pest Management program and the Environmental Resource Center. The Nutrient and Pest Management program connects farmers and researchers on key issues of profitability, practicality and environmental impact of crop production practices and cropping systems. The Environmental Resource Center is a group of researchers and outreach specialists uniquely positioned to provide science-based information and education at the crossroads of communities, natural resources and agriculture.
