George Street
During its past, George Street has also been known as 'Incubator Street' and 'Cat and Dog Street', due to the number of babies and animals that called this area home. At the time of this photo, the east side of George Street was home to the blacksmith shop at the far end of the block and the old Free Methodist Church (now a private residence) stands on the corner. The house at the far end of the street (32 Bedford Street) sits on the property that is listed as 'The Fair Ground' on the village maps, and Dr. Donnelly, the veterinarian, lived at the southwest corner of George and Bedford Streets (the white house at the end of the block with smoke coming from the chimney).
