For the next stop, go north, parallel to the railroad tracks (away from Main Street) on Fleming Street, until you reach a four-way stop.Turn left on Jefferson Street. At the intersection of Jefferson and School
Streets, on the northwest corner (across the street on the right), note:
Site 4—the GILLIAM-CAROUTHERS Hot sn (1896). During the Civil War, a Presbyterian church stood here, and it served as a hospital during the war. There are wartime graves in the backyard. The stained-glass windows in the house are from the church.
