The Gumbo-Limbo (Bursera simaruba) is a medium-sized tree growing up to 30-40 feet tall with a trunk diameter of 2-3 feet. Winter-migrating birds tend to flock to the Gumbo-Limbo to consume its attractive red berries. Its bark is dark green and marked with notably shiny red shavings peeling off from the bark. Because of this, The Gumbo-Limbo is comically referred to as the "tourist tree" as it resembles the peeling skin of sunburnt tourists.
