One of the first two story buildings constructed in Monterey, this structure was the home of Juan Bautista Alvarado, the first Monterey-born governor of California during the Mexican era. It initially had a second floor balcony and a large walled garden. Today part of this structure serves as the Pacific Valley Bank.
