Quality lighting is essential to the success of public spaces, especially for northern locations like Minneapolis, where there are many dark months each year. Lighting on Nicollet enhances the street’s vibrancy, vitality, safety, and seasonality. A tall elegant single mast serves as the primary lighting feature on the Mall. The mast follows the arc of the street creating a “ribbon” of light.

Directional LED “luminaires” light the sidewalks and transit lanes and a small LED light at the top of the mast serves as a beacon that can be programmed for festivals, seasons and events. Seasonal banners and other items can be hung from the mast to provide an eventful, festive, and dynamic experience at different times of the year.
