Cape Fear Indians are said to have bent the live oak tree when it was a sapling as a sign or trail marker. The tree is estimated to be several hundreds of years old and was once featured in "Ripiey's Believe it or Not" weekly news paper article. The park is named for former newspaperman Bill Keziah who was a local journalist during the1930's and 40's.
