Jake Schumaker

Jake Schumaker will be given a preliminary hearing for being in charge of selling liquor to a youth who had told police in court that he been had given the beverage to two Fargo minors a few days prior. Schumaker was arrested by police and then taken before Judge E.U. Wade. The youth was 16 years old would also be arraigned in police court. Fargo Police found one of the minors who was 15 years old around the back of a Broadway hotel, dizzy from the effects of the liquor. The Fargo minor was held on an intoxication charge, the Moorhead youth was arrested. Jake Schumaker faced serious charges since selling liquor to a minor was a penitentiary offense.[1]

Prohibition agents agreed on what might have been the biggest U.S.-Canadian liquor smuggling conspiracy that was uncovered up north in recent years. Jake Schumaker was held in the city jail on a federal warrant, that was issued after an indictment by a grand jury in St. Paul. He was arrested by Moorhead Police. Schumaker would be taken to Fergus Falls to answer charges of conspiracy to smuggling liquor into the U.S. from Canada.[2]
