Kelloggs Corners School house, now at 247 Main Street on Newfield Cetral School grounds, was moved from its original site at the corner of Kelloggs Corners and Van Kirk Roads in 1992. This school building was completed in 1887 and was the third school building in that general location. It is still one of the few remaining one room schoolhouses left in the township. Blackboards still line the walls and many of the desks remain. Concern for vandalism and a desire for elementary students to have a hands-on experience in a one room school, became the impetus for the Newfield Historical Society to raise $6000 to have it moved. Grants recieved from Tompkins County Commercial Center Revitilization Program and community colunteers are making it possible to renovate the outside of the school.
