We now see Kowloon park as a peaceful recreational site, but, during the 1960s, it was the site of Whitfield barracks of the British army and the former battery.
Later on, redevelopment took place in 1970, and it took 35 years for the park to be redeveloped as the way we see it today.
The park is managed by the the Leisure and Cultural services department. In order to fulfill both purpose of recreation and inherit local history and culture, different exhibitions are held in the park.
Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre is one of a significant exhibition sites. The centre aims to exhibit different historical relics and the latest archaeological research. It is free in charge for visiting the exhibition so you all are encouraged to visit the site to know more about the history.
