Across the street you will see the entrance to the Lake Forest Cemetery Gatehouse on the right and the entrance to the St. Mary Cemetery on the left. The Lake Forest Cemetery Gatehouse was built in 2000 and won a Preservation Foundation award.
In 1892 the cemetery donated 9 acres of land to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago which resulted in the creation of the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. This cemetery was once connected to the Lake Forest Cemetery via a footbridge over a ravine.
