Information

The "Little Free Library" is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to inspire a love of reading, build community, and spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. More than 75,000 public book exchanges are registered with the organization and branded as Little Free Libraries. Through Little Free Libraries, present in 88 countries, millions of books are exchanged each year, with the aim of increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.

Standley Lake acquired its Little Free Library while working in partnership with Boy Scout Jake O’Neill, as part of his Eagle Scout Project. The Eagle Scout Project is a great opportunity for any Boy Scout, to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of his community. Not only did Jake designed the Free Little Library to look like the nature center, but he also conducted a book drive to donate nature related books. Jake was very eager to donate the parks first Little Free Library to help people explore their outdoor world through books! The Park appreciates the hard work and generous donation Jake provided through his Eagle Scout Project.
