The "Little Free Library" is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that fosters neighborhood book exchanges around the world to inspire a love of reading, build community, and spark creativity. More than 75,000 public book exchanges are registered with the organization and branded as Little Free Libraries. Through Little Free Libraries, present in 88 countries, millions of books are exchanged yearly to increase access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
Standley Lake acquired its Little Free Library while working with Boy Scout Jake O'Neill as part of his Eagle Scout Project. The Eagle Scout Project is an excellent opportunity for any Boy Scout to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project to benefit the community.
