This Masonic Hall was built in 1870 to house one of California’s oldest fraternal organizations. The first regular meeting of the order was February7th, 1857, but it took a dozen or so years to raise enough money to build their own fall. In 1870 the new structure on the west end of Ellen street was ready. In 1895 when the power plant at tulloch Mill went into operation, the Masonic Hall was one of the first buildings to utilize this new source of power. For many years they rented the ground floor to Dr. James Lowe for his drug store. The lodge continues to meet on a regular basis.
