Meymott Street

Blackfriars Community Action Team started SE1 Newspaper in July 1975 with North Southwark Community Development Group and many other local residents. They aimed to give news about the neighbourhood that other papers did not print and encourage readers to get involved in improving housing conditions and protecting jobs and services. The paper was published monthly until March 1981 when there were not enough people to produce and distribute it. But local residents got together again to revive the paper and in December 1981 it reappeared. In 1984 new funding made the paper free and it continued until February 1991.
