Kelly Milukas, Artist, Collaborator, Art + Medicine, Patient Advocate

For Kelly, the back and forth between art and science opens up new ways to approach and understand topics of critical importance. As an artist collaborator, Kelly engages communities in the process of expressing science and medicine through art. Each Imagination Collaboration® project is a unique encounter. Her process is applicable to internal and external programs in a range of settings. Kelly has worked with scientific organizations, the Wake Forest Regenerative Medicine Institute and foundation, university art/sci programs, healthcare agencies, patient/advocacy communities and most recently, two biotech startups.
- Kelly’s luminous “Keys to Cures” sculptures have been adopted as a powerful symbol for how the work of Intarcia teams is unlocking cures through innovation. Kelly’s art is a permanent installation at Intarcia’s Seaport District, Boston headquarters, California, and Europe.
- Magenta Therapeutics appointed Kelly, to collaborate with their scientists and staff to understand and experience their patient focused mission. Then, with the critical learnings, lab tours, and design milestone visits, she helped shape the Magenta corporate headquarters appearance with artwork interpretations celebrating their cure vision, their science and mission. The artwork created embodies the character of Magenta’s one-time-cure science for patients.
- Kelly is active in her home state of Rhode Island having served as a President of the Providence Art Club and participating in the South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour as the founding President Emeritus. She lives in Tiverton, Rhode Island next to her studio and gallery. Kelly teaches both nationally and locally in pastel, encaustics and mixed media. When not working in the art/sci space, she enjoys painting whimsical fish, barns and cows.
