In addition to being a business owner, Taylor was also politically active as a member of the Rutherford County Democratic League. Her name appears in an advertisement placed by the Rutherford County Democratic League in the Daily News-Journal in July 1974, urging eligible Black residents of Murfreesboro to exercise their right to vote and to support Democratic candidates in an upcoming election.
