Information

Many minority businesses were located in the 100 Block of W 4th including barber shops, pool parlors and restaurants. In 1968, these buildings were torn down under urban renewal that swept through the state destroying places where the Black community gathered and did business.

Photo 1: Businesses listed in 1968 include 112 - Rickman's Recreation, 114 - Lola's Cafe, 116 - Ray's Place (restaurant) and 118 - Twilight Inn.
