Created By: Shelburne area chamber of commerce
A New England Colonial built in the 1800s, set on granite blocks with a granite hitching post near the front entrance. The house was said to have been built in Philadelphia, disassembled with the pieces numbered, shipped and reassembled in Shelburne. The boards in the attic are reportedly each marked with Roman numerals. Beginning in 1855, the property was owned by the same family for 125 years.
