Demonstration of old face of Ngau Tau Kok Estate

Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate was a resettlement estate. It was built for families who had lost their homes in natural disasters or had to be rehoused due to the redevelopment of old built-up areas.

It was also the first Prefabricated building which was built from parts that had been made in a factory, so the building process could be faster.

It provided a private lavatory and kitchen in each flat, and also had common areas for connection, like the long corridor and the playground. People felt like they won the lottery if they were assigned to Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate as it has an invincible sea view. Also, it’s the first resettlement area that had lifts. The life of residents in Lower Ngau Kok is more convenient than those in the Upper Ngau Tau Kok estate as the Lower Estate was surrounded by Telford garden, Amoy garden, and Upper Ngau Tau Kok Estate. They could go to the neighborhood centers and use the facilities in these three places.
