North Hill Park. Established in 1833.

On the left is North Hill Park. This park was established in 1833 when Burlington, Iowa was the territorial capital of the Wisconsin territory. This park has great significance to the history of Burlington Iowa. It began as a gathering point for the citizenry of Burlington Iowa and held many civic meetings and events. It was created as the first park for the Wisconsin territory in 1833. The park cannot be sold. This park has different varieties of trees aligning all of its walkways. The different variety of trees are representative of all the trees that exist in Iowa. The most significant of those trees is the basswood tree. The basswood tree was a tree that caused the Indians to settle here in Burlington, Iowa before the white man came in 1833.
