FIURolando · 34. Outlining The North Trail
Outlining the North Trail is a series of small outcroppings of exposed limestone leading up to our Pine Rockland habitat. Along the southwest side of the trail, one can see a Gumbo-Limbo tree that fell over after a storm. Rather than correcting the fallen tree, it was left undisturbed to allow for more small vegetation to grow along the bark. The Gumbo-Limbo is a notoriously hardy tree effective at adapting to its environment. Even after being uprooted, many Gumbo-Limbo trees remain alive, with some even growing sideways shoots.
