SJC Long Island's main building was dedicated as O'Connor Hall in 1997. It is named in honor of its fifth and longest-serving president, Sister George Aquin O'Connor, C.S.J. She sheperded the college through its transition to a coeducational institutution and during its expansion to Long Island. During her 28-year tenure, she pushed for curriculum changesthat included the additions of SJC's first graduate program, Weekend College, and what is now called the School of Professional and Graduate Studies. Sister George Aquin retired as president in 1997.
