Watch Frontera’s Education Program Manager talk about the Ocotillo for Flower Friday! The word Ocotillo comes from the Nahuatl word Ocote which means torch. They have bright red flowers that attract many pollinators! Ocotillos are sensitive to soil moisture, and can grow their leaves over night with the help of some water.
