Information

The map on the granite entrance to the Ohlone Memorial walkway shows the Emeryville coastline. The red dots on the map indicate the locations of the more than 425 shellmounds located around the bay at the time of the arrival of Spanish colonizers. The largest shellmound was located here at the mouth of Temescal Creek. This was also the site of a seasonal Huichin Ohlone village.
