Okolona Confederate Cemetery, 211 South Church
At Monroe Avenue (Route 41), turn right Then turn left onto Church Street (Route 245 South).
Site 12—The OKOLONA CONFEDERATE CEMETERY is ahead on the left. The best entrance is the gravel road on the far side. The Okolona Confederate Cemetery was established and dedicated by the Okolona Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy as a resting place for "Our Confederate Dead." There are approximately one thousand graves here, known and unknown. There are dead from Mississippi (the largest contingent), Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Texas, Tennessee and South Carolina. There are also known dead from unknown states. Cemetery information and visitor registration forms are on hand at the kiosk.
To leave, follow the gravel road behind the cemetery out to the stop sign. Turn right, then take the first left onto Prairie Street, and then turn right onto Main Street to return to the library.
