Old Burial Hill in Marblehead

Old Burial Hill – Entrance is at the intersection of Orne and Pond Streets. This location is where Max encounters the two bullies Jay and Ernie, better known as Ice. Later in the film, at another cemetery, our heroes meet up with the Winfred’s bitter lover Billy Butcherson (played by Hollywood veteran monster actor Doug Jones). Jones was so committed to his craft that the moths that came out of his mouth during a scene where he defies Winnie and sides with the kids were real. He wore a latex pocket attached to dentures that prevent the moths from going down his throat. While this scene was filmed in a studio, keep a watchful eye as the stitches that kept Billy’s mouth closed, are sewed in the pattern of the Roman Numeral XIII.
