Initially, the Old Federal Building held federal offices and the Muncie post office.[1] An expansion in 1931 and an addition was made to include a loading dock, which doubled its size, while preserving its Beaux Arts architectural style.[2] It is made of Indiana limestone, topped with a hipped roof, and features six bullseye dormers. It operated until 1979 when it became vacant. In the late 1980s, renovations expanded the building to adjoin the existing Horizon Convention Center and were completed in 1996. Today, the Horizon Convention Center houses various attractions and organizations.
