Information

Old Main was designed by architects, Malcomson and Higginbotham and was constructed between the years 1894 and 1896. It has had many renovations over the years adding different wings making the building bigger. Before it was part of Wayne State University, it started as Detroit High School in 1896. Old Main houses many different departments for Wayne State, such as the Anthropology, Geology, music, art, art history, and dance departments. There is also a planetarium, theaters, practice studios, anthropology museum, and 45 regular classrooms.
