Old Oasis

Opened in 1981, The Oasis Soup kitchen at 1020 High operated for 30 years. The lines of people waiting to eat lunch here each day was a poignant reminder of the plight of the homeless. As an often remembered image it has proven a difficult one for Oasis to shake. Despite a relocation, concientious work to be good neighbors, and the fact that 75% of the clients served by Oasis are not homeless, this image still does a lot to color perceptions (good or bad) of Oasis in the community.
