Oyster Pond is a saltwater inlet that connects to Natucket Sound through Oyster River which runs into Stage Harbor at the end of Harding's Beach.
In the summer months, Oyster Pond is typically over-run with children but has convenient location as it is close to Main Street (downtown) and offers kid-friendly amenities such as warmer water, swim lessons and lifeguards.
The town of Chatham was incorporated in 1712 and is now 305 years old. It covers an area of approximately 17 square miles and is located on the "elbow" of Cape Cod. Once a quiet farming town, Chatham soon became a popular vacation destination. Chatham has about 6,000 year round residents, however in the summer months, that number jumps to about 22,000.
