Papatoetoe Intermediate School

Auckland, Papatoetoe, Auckland 2025, New Zealand

Created By: Auckland Council

Information

Papatoetoe Intermediate School marks the former boundary of the land owned by Mr A. W. Hall, who Hall Road was named after before the street was renamed Grange Road. The intermediate school was built by the Auckland Education Board in 1952. Their initial plan was to name the school Middlemore Intermediate, but the name was changed to Ōtara Intermediate by the time the school first opened in February 1953. Another school in the area was later named Papatoetoe Intermediate in 1958 but was subsequently renamed Kedgley Intermediate School in 1967 in remembrance of its founding principle, Mr M. R. Kedgley. With the name now available, Ōtara Intermediate renamed itself Papatoetoe Intermediate in 1968, which it has retained ever since.

Continue walking north along Great South Road.
