The Pioneer Life Insurance Company incorporated in 1907. The company built this four story brick office building was built in 1910. The insurance company left the building in around the year 1917 but the building remained the home to other business offices. The Pioneer Life Insurance building eventually becames Dolund apartments.
In 2000, the building underwent major renovations and was transformed into Dakota Pioneer House and the Mental Health Clinic.
The ground level of the building has always been home to small local businesses and shops.
