Providence Spirituality and Conference Center

Upon arriving at the main entrance of the Providence Spirituality and Conference Center make your way to the right past the front desk then continue down the hall and view The Woods' historical dioramas. Proceed through the double doors before arriving at The French Room to the left (east). Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and five additional Sisters of Providence arrived in 1840 from Ruille-sur-Loir, France, to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana to establish an academy for women. The French Room honors The Woods' roots and is also where an organ donated from a World’s Fair is situated in the entrance along with various global art including a painted portrait of Queen Amelia of France. Beyond The French Room the tour continues through the museum and Shrine to Saint Mother Theodore Guerin where you will find numerous global connections and interesting artifacts. Upon conclusion of the Shrine tour make your way up the stairs (or elevator) to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel for some quiet time of reflection amongst the impressive marble structures from Africa and Europe, stained glass windows created in Munich, Germany at the Art Institute, and admire the canopy that rises over the alter, known as a baldachin, that was formed using Carrara marble from Petrasanta, Italy.

The Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin that is open daily from 8am- 5pm.
The Blessed Sacrament Chapel is always open as a welcomed place to pray.
