Raeford's Barber Shop

Davidson boasts a vibrant history of black-owned barbershops. Raeford's barber shop, located across Main Street, is a prominent illustration of these businesses' significance as community resources and catalysts for Davidson's cultural progress. In September 1925, a student expressed, "There are no white barbers here. I had my hair cut this afternoon for 25 cents!"
