As you continue to your right, you will see the back side of the lake. There are several benches in peaceful spots over-looking this part of the lake. If you walk up quietly closer to the shore, you may be treated to the sighting of a Great Blue Heron. The Great Blue Heron is native to Ohio, although it will migrate to warmer climates in the winter. These beautiful birds stand up to four feet tall and fish in shallow waters, preferably sheltered by trees. They eat crayfish, frogs, fish, and snakes and are dependent on clean fresh water for their habitat (Ohio DNR, 2012d).
