This is the site of the original Red Stone Baptist Mission.
With the Rainy Mountain Baptist Mission as a base, Rev. Howard Clouse and his arrived arrived in 1896 from Cedar Springs, Iowa to run the mission. They remained at Rainy Mountain for 27 years and were key in setting up the missions of Red Stone in 1896, Saddle Mountain in 1896, and Cache Creek in 1906. Rev. Clouse circulated between the missions and gave religious instruction at the Rainy Mountain Boarding School. His wife, Mary, worked with the government field matrons. They had no children and had been described as having been like parents to the Natives they worked with.
