Reticulated giraffes is blond to light brown in color with darker brown patches. Both males and females have horns, called ossicones, which are covered with skin. Its long neck is a specialized adaptation that allows it to reach leaves in the treetops. A unique system of valves keep blood from rushing to its head and making it pass out every time it lowers its head to eat or drink. Non- territorial and social, they travel in large herds that may consist of any combination of ages and sexes. Reticulated giraffes can grow up to 17 feet tall.
