Ronnie's connection with animals especially dogs is evident in her sculptures. The animal's gestures, and expressions come alive through the stoneware clay and raku firings. Each animal is individually hand-built.

ACRYLIC: Fine art painting

Ilene Richard's figurative work is based on her observations of people involved in everyday activities. Whether it be the interaction of a couple dancing or a group of strangers standing next to each other in a crowded room. Ilene creates an emotional connection for not only the viewer, but also between the people depicted in her work. Working as a children’s book illustrator and painter, it is important to Ilene to create a narrative quality to her work, and draw the viewer more easily into her world.
There are many elements that go into creating her finished works. She believes a strong layout and design of the canvas is the most important piece to jumpstart a successful painting. She begins with a sketch, and when she is completely satisfied and feels excited about the concept, she will then draw directly onto the canvas and start the painting process. Ilene is never really sure what colors she will eventually use, but she does know as she layers more and color onto her works she feels the work evolve. At this point, if her painting looks and feels balanced, Ilene knows that she is on the right path towards a successful work.
A strong design, vibrant color palette, and a narrative quality, are what makes Ilene Richard's work truly her own.
