The Royal Palm (Roystonea regia) is a species of palm that is native to south Florida. This large and attractive palm has been planted throughout the tropics and subtropics as an ornamental tree. Outside of its ornamental uses, the Royal Palm has also been used as a source of thatch, construction timber, and in some forms of traditional medicine. The fruit is eaten by bats and birds that disperse the seeds. Its fruit is often fed to livestock as well.
