For several decades, the city of Liège, like many other European cities, has witnessed the disappearance of cinemas from the center, caused by competition from big suburban cinema complexes.
In response to this, a competition was held for a new cinema in the city center. The competition was won by the young architectural firm Studio V+ (Bureau Vers plus de bien-être) from Brussels
Le Sauvenière is a film complex on Xavier Neujean Square in the center of Liège. The cinema opened in 2008 and has 4 halls with a total capacity of 798 seats, a courtyard and a brewery with a capacity of 400 people, where numerous concerts and lectures are held. It is part of the Europa Cinemas network.
