Scarlet Macaws on average live for 40-50 years and can be found in forests and savannahs from southern Mexico to northern Bolivia. Once a pair of these birds form a pair, they’re bonded for life and rarely seen alone. They show affection through mutual preening and licking each other. Mainly, the female incubates the eggs, but both parents care for the chicks, who remain with their parents for a few years. The Scarlet Macaw is also the national bird of Honduras.
